description: <div style='text-align:Left;'><div><div><p><span>The Marsh Resilience Portfolio (2026) is a dataset used to prioritize marsh protection and restoration throughout Maryland's estuarine marshes. The dataset uses USGS’ </span><a href='https://catalog.data.gov/dataset/conceptual-marsh-units-of-chesapeake-bay-salt-marshes' target='_blank' style='text-decoration:underline;'><span>Conceptual Marsh Units</span></a><span> (CMUs) to aggregate marshes into “mini-watersheds” and then scores each CMU for four categories: 1. Marsh health, 2. Marsh proximity to people, 3. Marsh proximity to other habitats and 4. Marsh wave attenuation benefits. One additional layer is included in this feature service titled “Marsh Management Suggestion” which provides additional contextual information for marshes to help managers assess restoration potential and strategies. The maximum score for each of these categories is 15, leaving a maximum of 60 for the most protective marshes, however in reality no marshes reach a score higher than 55. Methodology for the calculation of each sub layer can be found in the metadata for the individual sub-layer.
